Western Canada Bypasses Fall and Skips Straight to Winter

British Columbia and central Alberta are preparing to jump straight from summer to winter as Environment Canada issues brutal snowfall warnings.

Meteorologists say a cold front will plunge southward out of the Northwest Territories bringing unseasonably cold temperatures to regions within both provinces.

Snowfall will vary widely across the provinces, but as much as 15 heavy, wet centimetres are likely to fall over Grande Prairie and Jasper.

The wintry weather predictions come as large wildfires continue in B.C., northwest of Fort Nelson.

Grand Solar Minimum.
