Video: Heavy Rains Result in Cascading Torrents Down Spanish Streets
This weekend saw torrential rain in many parts of Spain, resulting in rivers bursting their banks, creeks overflowing and main streets becoming cascading torrents.
The videos below show waters tearing through the village of Cebolla, Toledo after the nearby Sangüesa creek began overflowing due to heavy rains.
Vehicles were swept away like toys, and many basements and buildings were flooded out — including the local health centre.

Unfortunately the devastation coincided with the celebration of local fiestas.

Local residents told Spanish news agency EFE that the flooding is “the worst seen in many years.”
The creek in question often overflows around this time of year, when there is a major storm, but the impact is never usually anywhere near as serious as this.
Fortunately there were no reports of injuries.
