“Unprecedented Rains” Cause Major Flooding in North Georgia
Severe storms dumped more than 5 inches of rain across Cedartown Tuesday afternoon in a matter of about three hours, causing flash flooding.
“We’ve never seen it like this,” resident Kris Hulsey said.
The couple who have lived in their house along North Cave Spring Street for about five years said they’ve never experienced flooding until powerful storms swept through their neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.
“The bottom half here, the bonus room is about knee deep. It’s getting up there,” Hulsey said about the amount of water now in his home.

A flash flood watch remains in effect for most of north Georgia through Thursday with more heavy rains in the forecast.
“Some areas received a month’s-worth of rainfall total in just about three hours this afternoon,” Burns added.
