Latest weather models have heavy snow and icy conditions plunging into the UK on Monday, and lasting well into next weekend.
Yellow weather warnings for Monday through to Wednesday have been issued by the Met office. Meteorologist Luke Miall states, “winter has been biting back this weekend.”
The jet streams meridional flow, brought on by low solar activity, strikes again. The same ‘wavy’ pattern responsible for February’s warm spell is now dragging brutally cold Arctic air down from the north.
Temperatures are set to hover well-below average for the time of year, according to latest GFS runs:
And a decent dumping of snow is also on the cards:
The Met Office has warned travel conditions in many areas could be treacherous.
Closed roads due to snow are expected, especially in Scotland.
