As well as it being a record-COLD Halloween across the U.S., this year’s celebrations were also a record-SNOWY one for many parts, too.
MILWAUKEE, WI suffered its snowiest Halloween-ever with a reading of 5.4 inches (13.7 cm) on Thursday, smashing the old record of 0.4 inches (1 cm) set in 1926 (during weak solar cycle 16).
October 2019 will also go down as Milwaukee’s second snowiest October on record, with a total accumulation of 6.1 inches (15.5 cm) — the top spot retained -just- by 1989’s 6.3 inches (16 cm).
MADISON, WI also suffered its snowiest Halloween on record, with 3.9 inches (9.9 cm) falling on the final day of the month.
That also took October’s monthly total to a new high, smashing the previous record that stood for a staggering 102 years — 1917’s 5.2 inches (13.2 cm):
ROCKFORD, IL (a 1:30hr drive due-south) saw 3.7 inches (9.4 cm) of settling snow through Thursday, annihilating the previous Halloween records of a trace from 2014 & 2017.
The month also wrapped-up as Rockford’s second snowiest October on record — the 4.2 inches (10.7 cm) that accumulated within in the last 3 days alone left the city just shy of first place, October 1929’s 5 inches (12.7 cm).
Halloween 2019 will also go down as Rockford’s second coldest on record — Thursday’s reading of 33F (0.6C) was within touching distance of the all-time record, 1917’s 32F (0C).
The Northern Hemisphere Total Snow Mass is building astonishingly-early this year, with the snow line descending anomalously-far south too:
This is how glaciers build.
This is also how ice ages begin.
The cold times are returning to the lower-latitudes, in line with historically low solar activity.
Prepare for the COLD — grow your own.
