Scotland is bracing for a blast of wintry weather which could push in as soon as next week, with temperatures set to plunge well-below zero.
Temps are predicted to tumble to -5C in the Highlands, while the South of England is still on for 0C and even some ground frost is likely in the South West.
An increasing number of forecasters are sounding the alarm bells for a big arctic freeze to descend over the whole of the UK by early November — bringing with it disruptive snow totals and debilitating cold temps, likely to be worse than those brought on by the ‘Beast from the East’ earlier in the year.
The UK faces being stuck in a big freeze until as late as next March.
The Grand Solar Minimum is intensifying.
