Saudi Arabia is experiencing its “most intense” cold wave in at least five years, with many towns and cities sinking to their lowest-ever recorded temperatures, according to local meteorologists.
Overnight lows have plunged well-below freezing in Saudi Arabia’s north over the past two days, with Tarif –a city located on the Jordan border– suffering a record-smashing -5C (23F).
According to Reuters, the mercury plummeted below freezing in many other regions, too — to the southeast, a reading of -3C (26.6F) was registered in Hail, while -2C (28.4F) was measured in Arar, a city located on the border with Iraq.
In the capital Riyadh, temperatures have dipped close to freezing on consecutive nights leaving the streets deserted on Tuesday and Wednesday last week.
According to Hassan Abdallah of the Wasm meteorological center, Saudi Arabia is experiencing its “most intense” cold wave for (at least) 5 years. During that spell back in 2016, the mercury plunged to a then record-breaking -4C (24.8F) in Turaif while snow blanketed the deserts. But 2020 has already busted that temperature low, and this year has also already suffered two episodes of heavy desert snow–the first coming in mid-January:
Regarding this latest cold event, the Ministry of Meteorology and Environment has warned its citizens to remain inside when possible, and to stay warm.
Severe winter weather systems have engulfed much of the Middle East/Western Asia of late — Beeka valley, Lebanon suffered disruptive snowfall last week (video above).
While record cold, deadly blizzards and 20 foot snow drifts have battered Turkey, Syria, Iran, and Iraq:
The COLD TIMES are returning…

Don’t fall for bogus political agendas — our future is one of ever-descending COLD:
