Snow-clearing operations are underway following India’s record-breaking storms which pounded the Northern states of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Uttarkhan and Kashmir late last week.
Unrelenting snow buried much of Northern India Wednesday night through Friday, killing at least 7, causing untold traffic chaos, cutting the power to tens-of-thousands, and triggering several avalanches:
The brutal storms had thankfully passed by Saturday, which gave the states’ plowing crews a window to begin work clearing popular passes.
It was tough going — accumulations rose to 10+ft (3+m) in places. And it was only by the early hours of Monday morning that teams had finally managed to reach the popular Manali-Leh road at Rohtang, in Himachal Pradesh:
Clearing of Mughal Road could only began on Monday too, as it took teams 2 days to reach the crucial pass which connects the Kashmir valley to the rest of India:
Further heavy falls are expected later this week, as Arctic air is once-again diverted anomalously-far south on the back of a solar-minimum-induced Meridional (wavy) jet stream flow.
All this in a world where the IPCC claim that “milder winter temperatures will decrease heavy snowstorms.”
Don’t be fooled by warped political ideologies — the lower-latitudes are refreezing in line with historically low solar activity.
Our future is one of brutal COLD, not catastrophic heat — prepare accordingly — grow your own.
