Noctilucent Clouds are Spilling out of the Arctic Circle and Spreading to the Lower-Latitudes — Further Signs…

Noctilucent clouds (NLCs), or night shining clouds, are spilling out of the Arctic Circle and descending farther south than ever before.

“During morning twilight, the north was unusually bright with beautiful blue-green clouds,” reported Debra Ceravolo of Osoyoos, BC, Canada on June 1. “It is rare to see them here at 49 degrees latitude.”

NLCs are Earth’s highest clouds.

They form in the upper mesosphere at an altitude of about 85 km (around 50 miles), which is above 99.999% of the atmosphere — the same altitude where meteors & thunderstorm-sprites occur, but below the altitude of the aurora.

For NLCs to form, extremely cold temperatures –as low as -150F– are required.

NLCs are always more prevalent during solar minimum conditions when there is less solar energy heating the extreme upper atmosphere. And with the Sun currently suffering its deepest solar minimum of the past 100+ years, this does go someway to explaining Ceravolo’s rare BC sightings.

But there is also a long-term upward trend, too:

(a) SBUV merged seasonal average IWC (ice water content) values for three different latitude bands: 50N-64N (purple triangles), 64N-74N (green crosses) and 74N-82N (blue squares). The solid lines show multiple regression fits to the data for the periods 1979-1997 and 1998-2018. (b) SBUV merged seasonal average IWC values for 50S-64S, 64S-74S, and 74S-82S. The solid lines show fits for the periods 1979-1997 and 1998-2018. (source).

Before last year, no sightings of Noctilucent clouds at the mid-latitudes existed. Then, from around mid-June 2019, NLCs were observed as far south as Joshua Tree, CA (34 deg. N) and Albuquerque, New Mexico (35 deg. N).

It could happen again this summer, writes Dr Tony Phillips. The clouds are heading south and are already within just 2 degrees of Seattle in the continental US.

Something is up.

The Universe continues to deliver us signs.

Pointers that only those with an open mind, unpolluted by the political agenda of the day have any hope of deciphering. People need to block out the fabricated hysteria that surrounds modern life and instead crane their necks back and look up; NLCs are visible about 1-2 hours after sunset or before sunrise, when other clouds are in darkness but these are still illuminated by the sun due to their high altitude.

Happy viewing.

The COLD TIMES are returning, the lower-latitudes are REFREEZING; in line with historically low solar activitycloud-nucleating Cosmic Rays, and a meridional jet stream flow.

Even NASA agrees, if you read between the lines, with their forecast for this upcoming solar cycle (25) seeing it as “the weakest of the past 200 years,” with the agency correlating previous solar shutdowns to prolonged periods of global cooling here.
