Hinsdale County, Colorado is still dealing with 20-Foot Snowdrifts in July

Hinsdale is one of the 64 counties that make up the U.S. state of Colorado.¬†Photos posted on it’s official Facebook page reveal the scale of last winter’s record snowfall.

The monster snow-accumulations over the winter months prompted avalanche concerns in Lake City, and then flooding concerns this spring.

Plowing crews were still struggling to clear County Road 20 to Engineer’s Pass on Monday, July 08 –which typically reopens in May– working through 20-foot tall snowdrifts.

The road is now open to the top of Engineer’s Pass.

Snowpacks are once again building, in line with historically low solar activity.

Prepare for the cold times.
