Europe Cools 20C in 24 hours Sparking Violent Thunderstorms + Crazy Hail Suspends Tour de France Stage

On the back of the much-documented two day African plume, temperatures across Western Europe plunged 20C in 24 hours through Fri, July 26 sparking violent thunderstorms. The famous Tour de France bicycle race was thrown into chaos after monster hail accumulations decimated the event.

The race was suspended ahead of the final Alpine climb of Montee de Tignes after torrents of mud and ice began streaming down the mountain passes.

There were still 20 miles of climbing to go in the Alps when the crazy hailstorm hit.

The riders were told to gather in a tunnel at Val d’Isere where they were told the race would have to stop “because of hail and pile of rubble on the downhill.”

The rare stoppage was a blow to fans but the decision was made for the safety of the riders.

A meridional (wavy) jet stream flow
–associated with historically low solar activity— is responsible for the crazy swings-between-extremes we’re seeing in the weather of late.

Just a day-or-so after Western Europe’s brief burst of heat, temperatures across practically ALL of Portugal, Spain and France are now as much as 16C below-average, with Belgium, Northern Italy and the UK also comfortably below normal levels for the time of year:

GFS TEMPERATURE ANOMALY (C) JULY 27:

And, as we head into August, those ‘blues & pinks’ are set to infect the majority of the continent:

GFS TEMPERATURE ANOMALY (C) for AUG 05 and AUG 06

This is the same pattern we saw during the first three weeks of July, before those few days of heat at the end of the month stole the headlines. Headlines that painted a warped, agenda-driven picture when compared to the reality — two days of heat can’t undo the damage done (to growing regions) by 3 weeks of anomalous cold.

The cold times are returning, as the sun descends into its next Grand Solar Minimum cycle:

Prepare.
