A tweet from the NWS Twin Cities Twitter account confirms that Eau Claire just broke their all-time February snowfall record with 72.1cm (28.4 inches) falling, and we’re not even midway through the month!
The old record was 71.6cm (28.2 inches) from 1936 (solar minimum of cycle 16).
Eau Claire and Minneapolis-St Paul also each set daily snowfall records for Feb 12. Eau Claire received 24cm (9.6 inches) which more than doubled the previous record of 10.4cm (4.1 inches) from 2000.
Solar activity continues its decline.
Cold-weather records continue to tumble as a result.
The accumulating snow around the Twin Cities only adds to this season’s monster NH totals.
The cold times are here.
